Step back in time and discover what life was like in a Victorian garrison.
The Portsdown Artillery Volunteers (PAV) are the uniformed section of the Palmerston Forts Society. They dress as the 2nd Hampshire Volunteer Artillery from the 1880s and usually carry out the authentic Victorian gun drills at Fort Nelson.
Although there are no live gun-firings scheduled at Fort Nelson for the time being, we are looking forward to seeing costumed members of PAV on the following Sundays, when they will be available, between 10:00 and 15:00, to impart their extensive knowledge of military life in Victorian times and the history of Fort Nelson in particular.
