FAQs

Which of your sites is open?

All of our sites are now fully open, visitors need to pre-book their tickets online.

During term time we are open Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 5pm.

On Bank Holidays and during school holidays we are open every day 10am – 5pm.

Can I book a visit for a school group?

Yes, school visits at Fort Nelson are now happening onsite.

And visits to the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds will take place from 8 June, with limited availability.

All visits need to be pre-booked.

If you can’t come to site we have new digital outreach service for schools and our trained staff can deliver schools workshops online.

Is your online shop open?

Yes, we are pleased to say that the Royal Armouries’ online shop is open.  All purchases made will help to support the museum which is a charity.

I am a member of the Royal Armouries, how will my membership be affected?

All memberships have been extended in line with our closure periods. Any queries please email membership@royalarmouries.org

How do I access the collection if I can’t make a visit?

You can explore our collections online and via our social media. The curatorial enquiry line will remain open as will the picture library. You can access our collections catalogue and our picture library.

What does the current situation mean for Freedom of Information requests?

Although we try to answer all Data and Freedom of Information requests within the statutory time frames responses may be delayed at this time as our staff are working remotely due to COVID-19 with limited access to the Royal Armouries files and archives.

Your donation would be very welcome during the last year of enforced closure due to COVID-19. We are a charity and your support will help us sustain our work as guardians of the national collection of arms and armour.
